(a) What is Pharmacognosy?

             Pharmacognosy is a word derived from two greek words "pharmakon" (a drug) and "Gignosco" (to acquire the knowledge of). It is defined as a branch of bioscience which treats in detail medicinal and related products of crude or primary type obtained from plants, animal and mineral origin.
